Former President Barack Obama is scheduled to campaign in Ohio to bolster Democratic candidates in competitive Senate and governor's races, state Democratic officials confirmed. The appearances are part of Obama's increased involvement in midterm elections, with additional campaign stops and advertisements anticipated in the final weeks before Election Day.

In Cleveland on Oct. 24, Obama will join Sen. Sherrod Brown, who is seeking reelection in a closely watched race against Republican challenger Jon Husted. Brown, a three-term senator, has been a vocal advocate for Ohio jobs during his tenure. Obama appears in a new campaign video highlighting Brown's work with his administration on economic issues.

"This race is going to be close. It could determine which party controls the Senate and whether Ohioans can count on the people in Washington to be fighting for you," Obama says in the video. "Please join me in supporting Sherrod Brown. He’ll always fight for Ohio."

Obama will also campaign with Dr. Amy Acton, the Democratic nominee for governor. Acton's campaign has focused on areas of the state that have recently leaned Republican. She is competing against tech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy for the position of governor, succeeding term-limited Republican Gov. Mike DeWine.

Ohio, once considered a swing state, has become a focal point for control of the Senate. President Donald Trump recently visited the state to support Husted, emphasizing immigration as a key issue.

Additionally, Obama is slated to appear with Michigan U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed in Detroit on the same day. El-Sayed, a progressive nominee, secured victory after a contentious primary that highlighted divisions within the state's Democratic Party. This Michigan event will also feature other prominent Democratic candidates, including Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, the party's nominee for governor.
