SJM Concerts, the promoter associated with a potential Oasis reunion tour, has been granted a license to host events at Knebworth House. The license, issued by North Hertfordshire Council and effective from Saturday, allows for events of up to 125,000 people with live music and dance performances permitted until 3 a.m.
The timing of the license comes just days before the 30th anniversary of Oasis's iconic concerts at the Hertfordshire venue on August 10 and 11, 1996. Demand for those original shows was immense, with more than 4% of the UK population applying for tickets.
Knebworth House's owner, Henry Lytton Cobbold, had previously expressed a desire for the band to return for a 30th anniversary performance in 2024. SJM Concerts, which has also promoted events for artists like Take That and The Prodigy, has been asked about specific plans for the Knebworth site.
This weekend also marks the 40th anniversary of Freddie Mercury's final performance with Queen at Knebworth. The venue has a long history of hosting major musical acts, including Robbie Williams, Sir Paul McCartney, and Metallica.
Separately, a documentary about Oasis's 2025 reunion tour, featuring interviews with band members since their 2009 split, is scheduled for release in September.
