New York State Democratic Party Chairman Jay Jacobs has taunted Republicans following their performance in the midterm elections, suggesting they should invite former President Donald Trump back to Long Island. This comes after a significant electoral defeat for the party, including in Nassau County.

Governor Kathy Hochul, a Democrat, appeared to have secured a double-digit victory over Republican Bruce Blakeman in the gubernatorial race, according to unofficial tallies. Trump had previously visited Long Island to support Blakeman's campaign. However, Hochul's campaign also carried Blakeman's home turf of Nassau County, a point emphasized by Jacobs.

"We're all talking about how Kathy Hochul carried Bruce Blakeman’s county," Jacobs stated. He added, "I only ask the Republicans, please bring Donald Trump back again."

Jacobs, who also serves as the Nassau County Democratic chairman, noted that approximately 5,000 absentee and paper ballots are still to be counted, with Democrats reportedly winning these by a 2-to-1 margin. This suggests Hochul's victory margin in Nassau County could widen further.
