NYPD Sergeant Accused of Stalking, Sharing Explicit Photos of Subordinate

An NYPD sergeant has been arrested on charges of computer trespass, official misconduct, and unlawful dissemination or publication of an intimate image. Sgt. Joel Dejesus, 37, surrendered to the Bronx District Attorney’s Office on Thursday morning, according to police sources.

Prosecutors allege that Dejesus shared explicit photographs of a female subordinate, with whom he had a past relationship, between July 13 and July 31, 2024. The indictment, unsealed in Bronx Supreme Court, states that the photos were disseminated after the woman ended their relationship.

Dejesus is also accused of unauthorized use of NYPD computer systems on multiple dates between August 10, 2024, and July 27, 2025. Court documents indicate he allegedly accessed records to look up both his former partner and her new boyfriend.

Dejesus, who joined the police force in 2012, was released on his own recognizance. The charges are not bail-eligible. His next court appearance is scheduled for December 16. The NYPD has confirmed that Dejesus has been suspended without pay pending the outcome of the investigation.
