An unidentified NYPD recruit died on Monday after collapsing during a workout at the Police Academy in Queens. The recruit was pronounced dead at Booth Memorial Hospital at 1 p.m. after being transported from the academy.
Sources indicated that the recruit was conscious and breathing for a period after CPR was administered. Mayor Zohran Mamdani and NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch visited the hospital after the recruit's condition worsened.
Records show the recruit had joined the police department in April.
