Air traffic control audio has captured a humorous exchange between an NYPD helicopter pilot and a LaGuardia air traffic controller regarding a couple who scaled the Empire State Building. The audio, which has since gone viral, highlights the pilot's unimpressed reaction to the daredevils' stunt.
"Yeah what’s all the hoopla going on over there?" the air traffic controller inquired, as the climb was in progress. The NYPD pilot responded with a degree of sarcasm, stating, "Two geniuses climbed the Empire State Building to the top of the spire."
The controller's reply was a dry, "Oh that’s awesome." The pilot then questioned if it was a worker performing maintenance, asking, "It’s not some worker changing a light, is it?"
"No, it’s a male and female dressed in black, they had some flag they were waving when they were up at the top and he just proposed to her," the pilot explained, his tone clearly indicating a lack of admiration for the couple's actions.
