A New York Police Department inspector has been suspended following allegations that he groped a subordinate officer and made racially charged, sexually explicit remarks. The suspension of Inspector Jeremy Scheublin comes four months after a lawsuit was filed against him in Bronx Supreme Court.

The female officer, identified as N.L., alleges that Scheublin, then the commanding officer of the 46th Precinct, summoned her to his office on January 1, 2025. According to the lawsuit, Scheublin allegedly grabbed her buttocks, lifted her, and threw her onto a couch. The officer, 34, stated that Scheublin then positioned himself on top of her and attempted to kiss her.

Documents filed in the lawsuit claim that when the officer resisted, Scheublin made the remark, "I want to make biracial babies with you." The officer reported that she was able to free herself, kick Scheublin in the groin, and yell at him to stop. She further stated that she feared she would be raped if she did not fight back.

Scheublin reportedly filed for retirement last month, a process that can take several months. He was suspended on Tuesday, according to internal NYPD orders. His attorney, Oliver Storch, stated that Scheublin retired "to concentrate on addressing the hurtful and false allegations in the lawsuit." Storch added, "America is the greatest country, where any disgruntled worker with an ax to grind, can sue the city and make the most outrageous claims for monetary gain."

The officer's lawyer, John Scola, criticized the NYPD for allowing Scheublin to remain in his position for over a year after the alleged assault was reported. "Our client had the courage to report the assault immediately, but the NYPD lacked the courage to remove Inspector Scheublin from full duty even after referring the case for criminal investigation," Scola said.

The lawsuit indicates that the case is part of a criminal investigation. The Bronx District Attorney's office has not yet responded to requests for comment. The NYPD also did not respond to requests for comment regarding the suspension, which was first reported by The Sal Greco Show podcast.
