The New York Police Department has fired Inspector Jeremy Scheublin, 45, following his indictment on charges of attempted rape and first-degree sexual abuse. The accusations stem from an alleged incident in January 2025 involving a woman under his command at the 46th Precinct.
Prosecutors unveiled the indictment against Scheublin last week. According to the woman's lawsuit and the subsequent complaint, Scheublin allegedly sexually assaulted her in his office. During the encounter, he reportedly told her, “I don’t know whether to kiss or choke you,” before forcing her onto an office couch. The complaint states he then kissed her and said, “I want to make biracial babies with you.” Scheublin is white, and the accuser is Black.
The alleged assault concluded when the woman kicked Scheublin in the groin, the complaint details. An internal NYPD investigation into the accusations led to a referral to the Bronx District Attorney’s Office in 2025.
Scheublin pleaded not guilty to the charges. His attorney has asserted that the accuser fabricated the story to pursue financial gain. The NYPD suspended Scheublin as July began and terminated his employment after the indictment.
Scheublin joined the NYPD in 2002, surpassing the 20 years of service required to be eligible for a full pension. Under state law, however, NYPD members with over 20 years of service can have their pensions forfeited if convicted of a felony. Scheublin is scheduled to appear in court again on October 30.
