A Manhattan therapist specializing in LGBTQ+ mental health and “kink” has been accused of raping a 17-year-old transgender patient in his Midtown office earlier this summer. Remington Yhap, 47, faces charges including three counts of rape and endangering the welfare of a child.
Yhap allegedly sexually assaulted the boy on June 15. The victim had been Yhap's patient from September 2025 through July, according to court documents.
On his online biography and the Liberation Psychotherapy website, Yhap listed his specializations as LGBTQ+ mental health, depression, and "sex (e.g., kink, non-monogamy/polyamory, sex work)." His practice description states he is dedicated to "co-creating a safe, nurturing environment that allows clients to develop authentically, free from fear or shame."
Court documents allege that Yhap showed the victim photos of nude individuals and repeatedly asked if he was masturbating when he was 16. Officials believe Yhap may have targeted other patients.
Yhap was arrested last week. A Manhattan judge set his bail at $75,000 cash and $150,000 bond. His next court date is scheduled for October 1.
