A New York City Department of Education teacher is facing disciplinary action after posting numerous conspiracy theories, including false claims about the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and antisemitic rhetoric, online. George Trim, a social studies teacher at IS 181 in Bath Beach, Brooklyn, made the remarks on his YouTube channel.

Among Trim's unsubstantiated claims were that World Trade Center owner Larry Silverstein had prior knowledge of the 9/11 attacks. He also asserted that the moon landing was a hoax and that Israel was behind the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Trim, 43, also used a tinfoil hat in some of his online presentations.

The Department of Education (DOE) informed Trim in a September 10 letter that his statements violated Chancellor's Regulation A-830, which governs the department's non-discrimination policy. The letter indicated that the office of Equal Opportunity would work with IS 281 Principal Maira Bender to determine appropriate corrective action, though the specific punishment has not been disclosed.

Moshe Spern, president of United Jewish Teachers, lauded the DOE's action. "The DOE substantiating that George Trim, who claimed Jews had prior knowledge of 9/11, had actually violated their regulations is fitting for the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks," Spern told The Post. The DOE has stated that it cannot comment on specific employee disciplinary matters.
