NYC Subway Shooting Victim Identified as Darell Rodriguez

Darell Rodriguez, a 26-year-old man from the Bronx, has been identified as the victim of a fatal shooting on a Midtown Manhattan subway platform. A photograph released by the New York Post shows Rodriguez beaming, wearing a Yankees cap, alongside his twin brother Derick and their brother Gabriel.

Derick Rodriguez described the loss of his twin as a "black hole" in his heart, telling The New York Times, "It is grief, but it is something deeper because this is your half."

Rodriguez was shot in the chest on Saturday afternoon at the 53rd Street/7th Avenue subway station. The assailant, described as a masked individual, fled the scene and has not yet been apprehended. Police are seeking public assistance in identifying and locating the suspect.

Derick Rodriguez, who resides in Waco, Texas, became concerned when a text message he sent to his brother on Sunday morning did not receive a response. After being unable to reach his brother, he began contacting police precincts. He later learned of his twin's death from an NYPD detective who informed him of an altercation on the subway.

According to his family, Darell Rodriguez had been working as a security guard in Manhattan on the day he was killed. The NYPD has released images of the suspect, who was seen wearing a red hoodie and a black face mask, as the investigation continues.
