NYC Scooter Bandit Sought in Teen's Fatal Shooting
Police released images of a suspect in a scooter, who allegedly shot and killed a 14-year-old boy in Queens and stole his vehicle.
The NYPD has released photographs of a scooter-riding suspect wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of 14-year-old Malaki Adams in Queens on Monday. Authorities are investigating the incident as a possible targeted killing.
Images released by the police show the alleged shooter wearing a face covering, a black hoodie, and checkered gray pants while riding a kick scooter. According to sources, the suspect allegedly stole Adams' scooter after shooting him in the back around 3:40 p.m. in Edgemere.
Adams was riding his scooter when the assailant approached him, police said. The victim attempted to flee before being shot. The suspect then fled the scene on Adams' scooter, heading eastbound on Norton Avenue. Adams was transported to Long Island Jewish Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Friends and neighbors expressed grief over Adams' death, with some suggesting the shooting might be related to gang activity in the area. One neighbor reported hearing two shots and stated they had seen the alleged shooter in the neighborhood before the incident.
Adams' mother, Alexis Credle, memorialized her son in a fundraiser post for burial expenses, calling him her "beautiful son" and expressing her profound loss.
