A plumbing supervisor employed by the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) is under investigation following allegations of excessive overtime hours that contributed to a substantial paycheck. Jakub Markowski, 41, is reportedly being investigated by the city Department of Buildings for his business practices.

The investigation was initiated after a complaint was filed concerning Markowski’s work hours. He was previously identified as one of New York City’s highest-paid municipal employees. In the fiscal year 2025, Markowski allegedly claimed nearly 2,600 hours of overtime, contributing to a total paycheck of approximately $465,000. The city's Department of Buildings confirmed it opened a complaint into Markowski's affairs.

The scrutiny follows a previous report that highlighted Markowski’s significant overtime earnings. His wife, Elizabeth Markowiski, was also observed speaking to reporters.
