NYC Mother Confesses to Killing 5-Year-Old Daughter

A mother in Queens, New York, confessed to killing her 5-year-old daughter in a chilling 911 call made Wednesday evening, according to law enforcement sources. The call preceded police being dispatched to the residence on 110th Street near 95th Avenue in South Richmond Hill around 7 p.m.

Upon arrival, the mother, who was reportedly waiting at the front door, informed officers that her daughter was "upstairs not breathing." Responding officers discovered the young girl upstairs, unconscious and unresponsive. She was found lying face-up with blood emanating from her nose and a weak pulse. The child was transported to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in critical condition, where she was later pronounced deceased.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the official cause of death. A neighbor, identified as Carlos, described the mother as stoic, noting she did not cry and appeared unfazed as she was taken into custody. Carlos recalled the victim as a happy child who was energetic and affectionate.

Another resident, Erika Santiago, a licensed practical nurse living across the street, reported hearing "a lot of yelling" on the night of the incident prior to the arrival of emergency services. She expressed devastation upon learning of the event occurring so close to home, especially given that the child was taken to the hospital where she works.
