NYC Mother Charged with Murder After Confessing to Killing Daughter
A Queens mother faces murder charges after allegedly telling a 911 operator she killed her 5-year-old daughter.
Francis Cabello, 32, was arrested and charged with murder Thursday evening, a day after her daughter, Fabiana Cabello, was found unresponsive in their South Richmond Hill apartment.
According to law enforcement sources, Cabello confessed to a 911 operator, stating, "I killed my daughter." When first responders arrived at the home on 110th Street near 95th Avenue, Cabello informed them, "She’s upstairs not breathing." EMTs found the child with a weak pulse and bleeding from her nose. She was transported to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
A neighbor, who identified himself as Carlos, told The Post that Cabello appeared unfazed after the incident, describing her as "not crying" and acting as though "nothing happened."
Cabello's father indicated that his daughter had been experiencing psychological issues and had recently stopped taking her medication. He expressed concern to The Post, stating, "I was paying attention because she was already acting strange... I knew that she stopped taking the medication. I used to tell her to take her medication. She said the doctor authorized her to stop taking the medicine." He added that he found it hard to believe a doctor would authorize this without seeing her.
Police records indicate that law enforcement responded to an alleged child abuse incident involving Cabello and her daughter in April 2025, which was deemed unfounded. In May, police also responded to a call regarding an "emotionally disturbed person" at Cabello's residence, leading to her hospitalization for an examination.
