New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani stated Wednesday that he wishes to resolve his "one-sided beef" with rapper 50 Cent concerning tax policy. Mamdani expressed this sentiment during an appearance on the Complex podcast, hosted by Jillian Superstar.

Mamdani, a self-identified socialist, indicated that he would invite 50 Cent to a hypothetical dinner party to discuss tax policy. This comes after a past public exchange where the rapper expressed strong opposition to Mamdani's tax proposals. In June 2025, Mamdani addressed his tax plan, which includes increased taxes on the wealthiest New Yorkers, in a previous podcast appearance. He described the tax on individuals earning over $20,000 annually as a "rounding error" that would improve the lives of all New Yorkers.

In response to Mamdani's 2025 remarks, 50 Cent publicly questioned Mamdani's policies and offered the mayor $258,750 and a first-class, one-way ticket out of New York City. He also stated he would inform then-Presidential candidate Donald Trump about the situation.

During the recent interview, Mamdani acknowledged his continued admiration for 50 Cent's music, even quoting the rapper's song "Get Rich or Die Tryin'" at a recent commencement speech. When asked by the interviewer if the dispute was one-sided, Mamdani agreed, stating, "It's a one-sided beef." He further elaborated that while they would likely always disagree on tax policy, particularly on increasing taxes for the wealthiest, he still appreciates the rapper's work.

Representatives for 50 Cent did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.
