NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani Kicks Off Early Voting by Casting Ballot

Early voting for the midterm elections began in New York City on Saturday, with Mayor Zohran Mamdani among the first to cast his ballot. Mamdani cast his vote at a polling site located within the Metropolitan Museum of Art on the Upper East Side.

The mayor arrived at the polling location around 10 a.m. Before casting his ballot, Mamdani brought a bag of donuts for the poll workers. While greeting poll workers, he was reportedly heckled by an individual who shouted, “Communist! You suck!,” according to video shared on social media.

Mamdani has been actively campaigning for Governor Kathy Hochul's re-election bid in the upcoming gubernatorial race against Republican Bruce Blakeman.

Early voting will continue for over a week, leading up to Election Day on November 3.
