New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has defended a recently released map of immigrant enclaves, stating that the administration intends to add more communities, including the noted omission of Little Italy, as well as Jewish and Irish neighborhoods. Mamdani acknowledged that the map, which has resurfaced on social media and drawn criticism, is not exhaustive and does not currently list all of the city's over 200 ethnic enclaves.

"It's clearly not an exhaustive list of the more than 200 ethnic enclaves," Mamdani stated at a press conference on Friday. "We're going to be making additional changes in the future to reflect that... including Little Italy."

The map, designed to highlight diverse cultural areas within the city, sparked backlash earlier this week due to the exclusion of several well-known communities. The administration has indicated that further revisions are planned to ensure broader representation of the city's rich cultural tapestry.
