A man died Monday evening in a freak accident at the Utica Avenue subway station in Brooklyn after his backpack became ensnared in the closing doors of a northbound train. Witnesses reported that the man was exiting the train around 5:50 p.m. when the incident occurred.
As the train began to pull away, the man's bag became trapped, and he was dragged along the platform before falling between subway cars onto the tracks. First responders arrived at the scene and pronounced the man dead. Police have stated that no criminality is suspected in connection with the accident. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released as of Tuesday morning.
