NYC Man Charged With Homicide After Woman Dies From Anti-Aging Injection
An unlicensed spa operator faces upgraded charges after a client died following a trendy NAD+ treatment.
An unlicensed spa operator in Riverdale, New York, has been charged with homicide after a 27-year-old woman died following an anti-aging injection. Luis Rojas Cabrera, 55, was charged on September 18 with the killing of Elizabeth Baron, who died in July after receiving a NAD+ treatment at his Bereshit Lifestyle Center.
Baron reportedly went into cardiac arrest shortly after the injection. Rojas Cabrera was initially arrested on July 20 and charged with reckless endangerment and unauthorized practice of a profession. He was released without bail at that time. However, the results of Baron's autopsy led prosecutors to upgrade the charges to homicide.
Sources indicate that additional charges may be forthcoming. Rojas Cabrera is not licensed to practice medicine in the United States, though he holds a license in the Dominican Republic. He has prior arrests, including one for attempting to bring medical supplies into the country.
The NAD+ treatment has gained popularity, with celebrities like Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber publicly endorsing it, contributing to its trend status.
