A Brooklyn-based dominatrix, Sabine Tautou, recently gained viral attention for a public BDSM performance in Manhattan's Nolita neighborhood. Tautou wrapped a client tightly in plastic wrap, leaving only a breathing hole, and then doused him with two half-gallons of milk on a street corner.
Tautou stated that the client, who traveled from Maryland for a session, willingly participated in the "mummification scene" to please her. The performance took place on a Wednesday at the corner of Spring and Mott Street amidst temperatures reaching 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
Describing the act as "public performance art," Tautou, who charges up to $10,000 for a full-day session, explained her artistic motivations. "I love the sculptural aspect of mummification. I love the restrictions it imposes on the person being wrapped. It feels like they are less human and more object by the end of it," she said.
When asked about the use of milk, Tautou quipped, "Everyone needs their daily calcium." She also noted that she ensures her clients clean up any mess afterward and leave no litter.
The fifteen-minute stunt drew onlookers and sparked numerous reactions online. Some social media users expressed shock at the performance, particularly given the high temperatures and economic conditions. Others commented on the unusual choice of milk for a cooling method or questioned the sub's decision to wear socks. Tautou said she embraces the varied reactions, stating, "Some people are concerned or frightened, some love it, some laugh and want to get involved. But my favorite response is indifference."
Tautou, who has a notable collection of tattoos and wears elaborate chokers for her performances, indicated plans for future public BDSM sessions in New York City.
