NYC Couple Names Newborn Son 'Knickson Fyve' After Knicks' Championship Victory

A New York City couple has chosen a unique name for their newborn son, inspired by the New York Knicks' recent NBA championship victory. Yvonne Gonzalez-Bradford and Vance Bradford welcomed their first child, Knickson Fyve Bradford, on August 8th, following the team's historic NBA Finals win over the San Antonio Spurs.

The name's origin stems from the sounds the couple heard from their Long Island City high-rise apartment after the Knicks clinched their first title in 53 years. Revelers chanting "Knicks in five!" prompted Vance Bradford to consider a championship-worthy name for their son.

"What if we give our son a name for a champion? What about Knickson?" Bradford recalled his wife asking the day after the victory. Yvonne later suggested "Fyve" as the middle name, viewing it as a symbol of indivisibility and championship.

This tribute carries added significance for the family as Vance Bradford's late mother, Sydell Johnson, served as the scorekeeper for the Knicks during their last championship in 1973. Her passing the previous year made the timing of Knickson's birth particularly meaningful.

The newborn has already gained attention online, with actor Spike Lee reposting photos of him adorned in Knicks merchandise. The parents expressed their hope that Knickson Fyve will embody a strong and successful life, with "Knickson Fyve forever!" becoming their family motto.
