A high-ranking Westchester County police official, Deputy Police Commissioner Jennifer Lackard of the Mount Vernon Police Department, was arrested Tuesday morning along with her son, Chase Lackard, 20, on charges stemming from an alleged gangland shooting in the Bronx.

According to police and sources, Jennifer Lackard is accused of driving the getaway car for her son after he allegedly fired at a group of rivals near the Bronx Criminal Court on June 29. The incident occurred at 11:57 p.m. No injuries were reported in the shooting.

Both mother and son face charges that include attempted murder, attempted assault, criminal possession of a firearm, conspiracy, and reckless endangerment. They were arrested at their home in Soundview after police arrived with a search warrant. The pair had not yet been arraigned as of Tuesday.

Chase Lackard, described as a reputed member of the “Slutty Gang,” has a prior history of legal troubles. Earlier in 2024, he was shot by police in Clason Point after allegedly brandishing a gun during a dispute. The previous year, when he was 17, he was shot in the chest on a BX5 bus in Soundview following an altercation with three other youths. At the time, police stated that Chase Lackard had flashed gang signs and engaged in a confrontation before being shot.

Jennifer Lackard earned $138,219 from the police department last year, according to public salary records. The Mount Vernon Police Department has not issued a statement regarding the arrests.
