A nursery has been found to have exposed children to unnecessary risk following an incident where a man drove off with the wrong toddler. The findings come from an inspection by Ofsted, the UK's education watchdog.

Kids Planet, the nursery involved, stated that it has implemented a comprehensive action plan covering safeguarding, training, supervision, staffing, and risk assessments. A spokesperson for Kids Planet said the organization is committed to learning from the incident and ensuring improvements are upheld.

Ofsted conducted a follow-up visit on July 22 to review the implemented changes, with an outcome summary expected. The watchdog's report acknowledged the nursery's prompt response to the incident while also recognizing strengths such as children's progress, warm relationships with staff, inclusive practice, and strong partnerships with parents and professionals.

The nursery spokesperson added that children's safety and wellbeing remain their absolute priority. They emphasized full cooperation with authorities and police, whose independent investigations concluded the matter was handled appropriately.
