Norwegian Prince Begins University Studies in Lisbon

Norway's Prince Sverre Magnus, 20, has begun his university studies in Lisbon, Portugal, pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business Management at Forward College. His enrollment was delayed following the death of his great-aunt, Princess Astrid.

Prince Sverre Magnus expressed anticipation for living in Lisbon, noting that the campus atmosphere in Bairro Alto is "very relaxed." He commented that his royal status is not unusual at the institution, citing the presence of Spain's Infanta Sofia as a fellow student. "They had Princess Sofia from Spain here, so it's not that strange," he told Norwegian outlet Se og Hør. "It feels very relaxed."

The Forward College, located in Lisbon, has a tuition fee of €20,885 per year. The first year of the Business Management program is taught in Lisbon, with subsequent years taking place in Paris and Berlin. The college offers student-run clubs catering to various interests, including surfing, reading, and photography, which align with Prince Sverre Magnus's entrepreneurial activities, such as establishing his own film production company.

Student accommodations at Forward College are described as adequate and simple, featuring private single rooms between 13 and 20 square meters, each with its own bathroom. Monthly rent for these rooms can reach up to 10,000 kroner (approximately £792). Campus amenities include a gym, media room, and on-site laundry facilities.

Infanta Sofia, who is one year ahead of Prince Sverre Magnus, is preparing for her second year of studies in political science and international relations in Paris. This marks a new chapter for the Norwegian prince, who recently experienced significant family losses. His great-uncle, King Harald V, passed away last month at the age of 89, and his great-aunt, Princess Astrid, died on September 9 at the age of 94, just two days after the late monarch's funeral.
