Northern Lights May Be Visible Again Sunday Night, Primarily in Northern UK

Stargazers in the United Kingdom may have another opportunity to witness the Northern Lights on Sunday night. The Met Office Space Weather Centre indicates that increased solar wind activity could make the aurora visible, particularly in Scotland, Northern Ireland, and parts of Northern England.

Despite the potential for viewing, a weather front moving into the far north of the UK could bring increasing cloud cover, potentially hindering visibility in some locations. For areas where the skies remain clear, a display is still possible, though it is expected to be less intense than the event seen on Halloween night. The aurora activity is predicted to gradually decrease from Monday onwards.

This follows a night on Saturday when stargazers across the UK were treated to vivid displays of the aurora borealis, also known as the Northern Lights, on Halloween night. Blues and greens stretch across the sky in a Northern Lights display in Nairn, Highland An image of the sky in Kendal, Cumbria, on 10 October during the evening. The Northern Lights can be seen in a pink and green hue alongside a bare tree trunk and branches in the foreground of the image. A bright display of green was spotted in the skies in Busta, Shetland Islands Bright green lights up the night sky in Jedburgh, Scottish Borders Bright colours of green and purple stretch across the sky in Dolgellau, Gwynedd Purples and greens of the aurora reflect off the water in Pooley Bridge, Cumbria
