An interaction between Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's 13-year-old daughter, North West, and a 23-year-old model at the Vetements Menswear Spring/Summer 2027 show in Paris has become a viral sensation, sparking debate on social media.
The incident occurred Friday when model Matteo Sinet approached West for a photo. A video shared on X, formerly Twitter, by rapper Skepta, captured the moment. In the footage, North West extended her hand for a handshake, but Sinet responded with an embrace. Skepta, who shared the video, commented that "the way grown men, complete strangers, try to use North makes me sick," urging parents to "protect your kids."
Many online observers agreed that West appeared "uncomfortable" during the encounter. "The awkwardness in that video is painful," one user wrote. Others defended Sinet, suggesting he "didn’t linger or make it weird" and questioned if "hugging is a social offense." Skepta countered these points, emphasizing West's age and her clear gesture for a handshake.
However, a source speaking to Page Six stated that North West "wasn’t uncomfortable at all" and was simply unsure whether Sinet intended to shake hands or hug. Representatives for Kardashian, West, and Sinet did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
North West attended the Paris Fashion Week event without her parents. She was in Paris with her father and his wife, Bianca Censori, before traveling with them to Florida for a performance. The 13-year-old sported a blue wig and faux face piercings, including new angel bites, and wore an all-black ensemble.
North West has been active in music, releasing her six-track EP "N0rth4evr" in May, accompanied by a music video. She has also performed with her father on multiple occasions this year. Kim Kardashian has previously expressed pride in her daughter's musical endeavors, telling Complex in February that North approaches her music "in her own way" and is unconcerned with outside opinions, much like her father.
