The launch occurred amid heightened tensions following recent land mine blasts.

South Korea’s military announced that North Korea has fired at least one projectile toward its eastern waters. The specific type of weapon, whether a ballistic missile or another system, was not immediately disclosed by South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff.
The incident comes at a time of increased tension between the two Koreas. This follows a series of land mine explosions last month that resulted in injuries to three South Korean soldiers. Both South Korea and the U.S.-led United Nations Command have attributed these blasts to North Korean mines.
