Authorities in Minot, North Dakota, have arrested a couple, Craig Kerzmann, 49, and Sarah Kerzmann, 45, after discovering the remains of an infant encased in concrete within a plastic tote. The discovery was made in the bedroom closet of their home.

Police were initially called to the residence on a domestic violence incident. During the investigation, officers received a tip from a neighbor suggesting the presence of a deceased infant, identified as the child of the Kerzmanns. Investigators were informed that the child had died approximately three years prior in another state and that the death had not been reported to law enforcement at the time.

According to a police affidavit, Sarah Kerzmann allegedly admitted to a neighbor the day before the arrest that the deceased child was in the closet. The affidavit further states that Mrs. Kerzmann gave birth to triplets, and the infant in question passed away around six months of age approximately three years ago, reportedly while under her husband's care. It is also claimed that Craig Kerzmann told his wife, “If I’m going down, so are you,” before confirming the location of the tote to the police.

Investigators obtained a search warrant and located the concrete-filled tote. An X-ray revealed a void inside the concrete, and the container has been transported for forensic examination, including autopsy and identification. The exact cause of the infant’s death is still under investigation, and detectives are collaborating with authorities in Texas to establish a timeline.

The couple faces charges of failure to report the death of a child and disturbing a human burial site. Craig Kerzmann also faces an additional charge of domestic violence causing serious bodily harm. He is being held on over $149,734 bond and has a no-contact order with his wife. Sarah Kerzmann's bond is set at just over $5,000, and she is prohibited from leaving the state. Preliminary court hearings are scheduled for early October.

Prior to his arrest, Craig Kerzmann had an online presence, sharing content about parenting his autistic son on a now-deleted account. This child was not one of the triplets. Some of his videos had previously drawn controversy online.

The couple had lived in Minot for nearly three years, having relocated from Texas.
