A North Carolina woman has been indicted on charges of murder and conspiracy for her alleged involvement in a deadly mass shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego. The suspect, who was 17 at the time of the June incident, is accused of helping the attackers disseminate their message and publicize the massacre, according to authorities who announced the charges on Monday.
A grand jury indicted the teenager on three counts of murder and one count of conspiracy. Initially, she faced potential sentencing within the juvenile justice system due to her age. However, prosecutors raised concerns regarding the gravity of the allegations and the possibility of her reintegration into society, with one federal official stating that authorities were uncertain of her capabilities.
The alleged gunmen, identified as Cain Clark and Caleb Vazquez, are accused of carrying out the targeted attack. The shooting resulted in three deaths and occurred at the Islamic Center of San Diego.
