The 17-year-old charged in the deadly shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego has been identified as Sarah Lindsey Santiago, a student from North Carolina. Santiago faces three counts of first-degree murder and one count of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, according to WBAL-TV.
Prosecutors allege that prior to the attack, Santiago agreed to livestream the massacre and distribute the recording publicly, along with releasing the gunmen's manifesto. Authorities stated that Santiago was among three individuals who allegedly watched the livestream and subsequently recorded and disseminated the footage and the attackers' writings.
Winston-Salem Police released mugshots of Santiago on August 31, 2026, in connection with the June shooting that resulted in three fatalities. The investigation into the events leading up to and during the attack is ongoing.
