A North Carolina resident has claimed a $1 million jackpot prize from a $10 scratch-off ticket, attributing his win to his lucky number, seven. Tomas Munoz, who was born on the 7th day of 1977, purchased the Triple Red 777 jackpot ticket at a market in Candor.

Munoz scratched the ticket in-store and discovered he had won the top prize. "Seven is my number," Munoz stated, noting his birthdate. "I was born on the 7th in '77."

The odds of winning the $1 million top prize are 1 in 1,465,160, according to the North Carolina Education Lottery. Munoz visited lottery headquarters and opted to receive the prize as a lump sum of $600,000 before taxes. After required withholdings, he received $396,090.

Munoz plans to invest the winnings and continue his work restoring classic cars.
