North Carolina Man Arrested for Secretly Filming Sexual Encounter, Sharing Video with Fraternity
Police charged a 19-year-old with disclosing private images and secret peeping after he allegedly shared a video with a fraternity group chat.
A 19-year-old man has been arrested and charged after allegedly secretly recording a sexual encounter with a University of North Carolina at Charlotte student and distributing the video to a fraternity group chat.
Alexander Michael Evanoff was taken into custody on Monday and charged with one count of disclosing private images and two counts of felony secret peeping. According to police, Evanoff used his cellphone on September 19 to record a sexually explicit video of a woman without her consent and subsequently shared it with a 32-member Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity group chat.
During an interview with law enforcement, Evanoff reportedly admitted to intentionally recording the encounter and sending it to the fraternity group chat. He also acknowledged that he did not obtain the victim's permission to create or distribute the video. When confronted by the woman, Evanoff allegedly responded affirmatively when asked if sending the video to the group chat made him appear 'cool,' and he offered an apology.
A spokesperson for the University of North Carolina at Charlotte stated that Evanoff is not a student at the university. "The individual who has been charged is not currently enrolled at the University. The alleged conduct in this case, if true, is reprehensible. It is not what we expect or will tolerate from members of our campus community," the spokesperson said.
Evanoff was released on a $10,000 bond on Tuesday, according to court and jail records. Fox News Digital has reached out to the university, Evanoff's attorney, and Sigma Alpha Epsilon for comment.
