A man with a history of arrests has been taken into custody in Charlotte, North Carolina, following the emergence of disturbing videos on social media depicting him attacking and pursuing women. Di-Quan Schafar Hunt, 32, was arrested Thursday after the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department reviewed footage posted on his own social media accounts.
July Attacks
According to police, one incident occurred on July 30 in a residential neighborhood. In a video, Hunt can be heard yelling at a woman who was holding a get-well balloon, before punching her and knocking her to the ground. The footage shows Hunt standing over the unresponsive woman, shouting racial slurs and questions, then ripping her sunglasses and kicking the balloon before fleeing.
Police have stated Hunt will be charged with assault with a deadly weapon for this attack. The victim's identity has not been released.
In a separate, undated video also posted online, Hunt is seen ranting about McDonald's before charging at another woman walking on the sidewalk and chasing her around a car. He is heard shouting profanities and taunts during the pursuit.
Criminal History
Officers responded to an "attempt to locate" call on Thursday morning and were shown the videos. Hunt was apprehended around 7:30 p.m. Thursday. He was transported to a medical facility for unspecified treatment before being taken to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
Jail records indicate Hunt has been arrested at least nine times in the past 34 months in Mecklenburg County. His previous charges include simple assault, assault on a female, assault with a deadly weapon, trespassing, domestic violence protective order violations, and probation violations.
Between December 2012 and June 2019, he was arrested multiple times for assault on a female and domestic violence protective order violations, as well as charges for discharging a firearm and injury to personal property. All of these cases were dismissed, according to reports.
In June 2019, Hunt pleaded guilty to discharging a weapon in an occupied property and felony probation violation, receiving a sentence of 20 to 36 months in prison. He was reportedly released in June 2020.
More recently, in August 2024, Hunt was convicted of breaking or entering, injury to personal property, and misdemeanor probation violation, serving 90 days with time served. His last conviction, in March 2026, was for assault with a deadly weapon and carrying a concealed weapon stemming from a December 2025 incident. He received an 89-day sentence but was not incarcerated due to time already served awaiting trial.
