CBS News star Norah O'Donnell is launching a new weekly podcast titled "Healthful," dedicated to women's health and cutting through medical misinformation. The podcast is set to debut on July 22.
O'Donnell, who stepped down as anchor of the "CBS Evening News" last year, will feature conversations with doctors and researchers on topics including menopause, reproductive health, cancer, the gut microbiome, and women's sexual health. "Our goal is simple … to deliver fact-based information that you can trust," O'Donnell stated in the show's trailer.
The new podcast will also include a recurring segment called "Turning the Tables," where guests can ask O'Donnell about her personal health habits and wellness routine. O'Donnell told Women's Health magazine that the show aims to address the questions many women have when navigating a landscape of conflicting medical advice.
"I’m introducing women to the world’s leading experts on all these things that we want to know more about at a time where we have all this access to information, and yet many of us are more confused than ever," O'Donnell said.
During her reporting for the series, O'Donnell encountered subjects she hadn't previously explored, such as the increase in lung cancer among women who have never smoked.
O'Donnell's personal wellness routine involves regular exercise, including sessions with her trainer Kira Stokes several times a week focusing on strength and mobility. She also plays tennis on weekends and takes walks after dinner. Her mornings typically begin with a smoothie containing blueberries, turmeric, Greek yogurt, almond butter, and creatine.
O'Donnell has had a prominent career in television news for approximately three decades. She began her career covering Congress for Roll Call before joining NBC News. She moved to CBS in 2011 as chief White House correspondent, later co-hosting "CBS This Morning." In 2019, she became anchor and managing editor of the "CBS Evening News," making her the only network evening news anchor based in Washington, D.C. Following her departure from the nightly broadcast earlier this year, O'Donnell transitioned to an expanded role as a CBS News senior correspondent, contributing to "60 Minutes" and hosting "Person to Person."
