“60 Minutes” is adding several new journalists to its correspondent team for the upcoming season, including CBS News’ Norah O’Donnell and New York Times conservative columnist Ross Douthat. The appointments were announced Tuesday by the program’s executive producer, Nick Bilton.
O’Donnell, who has served as a senior correspondent for CBS News and launched a podcast, will now also be a correspondent for “60 Minutes.”
New contributors also include Sebastian Junger, a former ABC News journalist and author of “The Perfect Storm,” and Gianna Tononi, formerly of Vice News. These additions follow the June announcement of Trevor Phillips, a former Sky News journalist, as the network’s Senior Global Affairs Correspondent.
Bilton, who took over as executive producer in May, expressed his enthusiasm for the new team. “Today, I am pleased to share some great news, and the first of many exciting announcements to come,” Bilton stated. “An exceptional lineup of journalists will be joining ‘60 Minutes,’ carrying on its tradition of fearless, independent and impartial reporting. I can’t wait for them to get started.”
The new correspondents will join the existing roster of veteran correspondents Lesley Stahl, Jon Wertheim and Bill Whitaker.
