New Jersey is already experiencing coastal inundation, with streets and homes flooded in communities like Surf City and Manasquan. The storm is forecast to bring heavy rainfall and strong winds to major metropolitan areas including New York City and Boston.
The Federal Aviation Administration has advised travelers to check flight statuses, as more than 1,100 flights have been delayed and at least 400 have been grounded. Power outages have affected nearly 150,000 households, according to poweroutageus.
The full moon on Saturday is expected to exacerbate coastal flooding. Several events, including a concert by Ed Sheeran in Boston, have been canceled due to the severe weather conditions.
