Noncitizen Pleads Guilty to Voting Illegally in 2024 Pennsylvania Election
A woman who obtained lawful permanent resident status in July pleaded guilty to casting a ballot in the Nov. 5 general election after registering online less than a month prior.
A noncitizen from the Philippines living in Pennsylvania has pleaded guilty to illegally voting in the 2024 general election, federal prosecutors announced. Evelyn Miller, 37, of Emmaus, registered to vote online on Oct. 9, 2024, and then voted in person on Nov. 5, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
Miller, a lawful permanent resident but not a U.S. citizen, faces sentencing on Dec. 16. She could receive up to one year in prison, a year of supervised release, and a $100,000 fine.
Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) began investigating Miller after receiving information that an individual in Lehigh County may have illegally registered or voted. HSI and FBI agents interviewed Miller at her home in July 2025, when she stated that she had registered online and then voted on Election Day.
Miller was granted lawful permanent resident status by the Biden administration on July 19, 2024, DHS confirmed.
"American elections are for Americans only," said DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin in a statement. "This alien from the Philippines pleaded guilty to illegally voting in the 2024 election in Pennsylvania. Thanks to the hard work of the men and women of HSI, as well as our partners at the Department of Justice, this alien will soon face justice for her efforts to subvert our elections."
This case comes as the Justice Department is prosecuting a series of election-related cases stemming from the 2024 election. On Sept. 18, federal prosecutors announced that 16 individuals had been charged in separate cases involving illegal voting and other election crimes across multiple states.
