Oasis frontman Noel Gallagher expressed a humorous sense of pride after his 15-year-old son, Sonny, directed an offensive gesture at Manchester United supporters during Manchester City's derby win at Old Trafford. Sonny Gallagher, alongside his older brother Donovan, 18, and their father, was present for the match on Sunday.

The incident occurred approximately 62 minutes into the game, shortly after Manchester City had been reduced to ten men due to Phil Foden's red card. As striker Erling Haaland scored what would become the winning goal, Sonny flipped his middle finger towards the rival fans. This gesture followed a contentious VAR review that United supporters believed would disallow the goal for offside. The goal was ultimately awarded, giving City a lead they maintained throughout the remainder of the match.

Noel Gallagher, witnessing the event, reacted by punching the air in jubilation and chanting. He later shared his thoughts on the incident in comments to talkSPORT, as reported by The Sun. "There comes a point in your time as a father where you look at your children and you think, 'My god, I brought you up well' – when they feel it as much as you do and when they get it," Gallagher stated. He added, "But he made the newspapers today and my heart is full of pride for my sons who got stuck into it yesterday and got stuck into the United fans as well."

The Gallagher family, including Noel and his brother Liam, are well-known die-hard supporters of Manchester City, having followed the club long before its recent dominance in the Premier League, which began after Sheikh Mansour's acquisition in 2008. Oasis's music has been associated with the club's successes during this era.
