Noel Gallagher attributes the success of Oasis's reunion and their improved sound to his willingness to "compromise" with his brother, Liam.
Speaking on an episode of Amelia Dimoldenberg's YouTube series "Chicken Shop Dates," Noel, 59, reflected on the reconciliation that followed the band's 2009 split. The brothers had not spoken for years until reuniting in 2024 for their "Oasis Live '25" tour.
"I think you've got to be prepared just to compromise," Noel stated when asked for advice on working with a sibling. He acknowledged that compromise is not something he naturally excels at but has improved with age. He added that during rehearsals for the reunion, it became clear the band's performance was "going to be as good if not better than it ever was."
Oasis is currently preparing for a series of shows, "Oasis Live '27," following their recent successful tour.
Earlier this week, Liam Gallagher, 54, appeared to confirm that the band is working on a new album. Responding to a fan on Twitter who noted Oasis has seven albums, Liam replied, "8 including the new 1, I mean happy birthday." This follows Liam's suggestion that more concerts could follow the "Oasis Live '27" tour if new music is produced.
Noel also discussed the enduring appeal of Oasis's music, noting how songs like "Champagne Supernova," released in 1995, have taken on new meaning for a generation. He admitted that even he remains unsure of the exact meaning behind lyrics like "slowly walking down the hall, faster than a cannonball," playfully suggesting it might be a drug reference.
