Noah Wyle received his third Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his performance in "The Pitt" at the 2026 Primetime Emmy Awards. He was supported at the event by his former "ER" co-star Julianna Margulies.
Wyle, who played Dr. John Carter on the long-running medical drama "ER," took home the award for his role in "The Pitt," a procedural medical drama set at a fictional hospital. "The Pitt" led the evening with 25 nominations, including a nod for Outstanding Drama Series.
Margulies, who portrayed head nurse Carol Hathaway on "ER," presented Wyle with his award. The duo, who starred together in the first six seasons of "ER," maintained a close bond despite not acting together for 26 years. Margulies was seen giving Wyle a standing ovation as he accepted his award. Wyle expressed gratitude, calling the win "overwhelming" and thanking Hollywood for its acceptance.
Wyle beat out competition from Gary Oldman for "Slow Horses," Sterling K. Brown for "Paradise," Mark Ruffalo for "Task," and Rufus Sewell for "The Diplomat."
Other notable wins included Rhea Seehorn for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for "Pluribus," and Jean Smart for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for "Hacks." Matthew Rhys won Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for "Widow's Bay" and Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for "The Beast in Me." The award for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series went to "DTF St. Louis - WINNER."
