An investigation into the deaths of three sisters whose bodies were recovered from the sea off the coast of Brighton has concluded, with police finding no evidence of criminality or third-party involvement. The sisters, identified as Jane Adetoro, 36, Christina Walters, 32, and Rebecca Walters, 31, were found near Black Rock on May 13.
Post-mortem examinations confirmed that all three women died by drowning, according to Sussex Police. An inquest is scheduled to formally establish the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
The police inquiry revealed that the sisters were dropped off by a taxi on Madeira Drive around 10:20 p.m. BST on May 12. Investigators found no indication that they visited any local businesses or nightclubs in the area. The force stated there was "no evidence the women came to harm by any individuals" up to the point their bodies were discovered.
Ch Supt Adam Hays acknowledged the public's speculation and desire for answers surrounding the incident. He emphasized that the investigation's priority was to uncover the truth for the family, recognizing the profound grief associated with their "unthinkable tragedy and loss." The police inquiries have now concluded, pending any new information that may come to light.
