No-Call Pass Interference Dominates Discussion After Georgia's Win Over Alabama

A critical non-call for pass interference late in the fourth quarter has overshadowed Georgia's 20-17 victory over Alabama, leaving the Crimson Tide questioning a pivotal moment in their loss.

With the game on the line, Alabama quarterback Keelon Russell targeted wide receiver Rico Scott near the end zone. Georgia safety KJ Bolden made contact with Scott as the ball approached, a play that many observers believed should have resulted in a pass interference penalty. Such a call would have given Alabama a first down and placed them within field-goal range to potentially tie the game.

However, the SEC officiating crew did not throw a flag. On the subsequent play, Bolden sacked Russell, effectively ending Alabama's chances of tying the game. The Crimson Tide were forced to punt, and a personal foul penalty committed by cornerback Dijon Lee Jr. against Georgia later in the possession did little to alter the game's outcome.

Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer expressed frustration with the situation, stating, "We can’t put the game in that situation where the officials come into play." The decision, or lack thereof, has drawn significant attention from college football fans and analysts.

The victory marked Georgia's first regular-season win in Tuscaloosa since 2007. Bulldogs quarterback Gunner Stockton completed 18 of 22 passes for 248 yards and one touchdown, despite facing consistent pressure throughout the game.

Georgia is now positioned to ascend to the No. 1 ranking in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll, benefiting from Texas's earlier loss to Oklahoma on the same Saturday.

Luke Metz and Caleb Woodson walk off the field after Alabama's loss to Georgia.
