A New Jersey woman sustained serious injuries after being hit by an SUV on Tuesday night while she was attempting to assist a deer that had been struck by another vehicle. The incident occurred around 11:45 p.m. on Patricia Drive in Mount Olive.
Authorities reported that the 24-year-old woman was found in the dark road near the injured deer. She was airlifted to Morristown Medical Center to be treated for her serious injuries. The driver of the SUV, a 29-year-old woman from Flanders, was not injured and remained at the scene. The Mount Olive Police Department and Morris County prosecutors are investigating the accident. The condition of the injured woman was not immediately available.
