A 48-year-old athletic director for a New Jersey school district has been accused of peering into a young girl's bedroom in Pennsylvania, according to police and reports.
Winfield Becker, the athletic director for the Hopewell Valley Regional School District, was reportedly seen looking into the window of a neighboring residence in Cabin Run, Bucks County, around 10:40 p.m. on August 6. Plumstead Township police stated that surveillance footage provided by the homeowner led to his arrest.
The footage allegedly shows Becker looking into the girl's bedroom window. Becker was charged with loitering and prowling at night, along with a summary offense of harassment. He is scheduled to appear in court on September 8.
In a letter to parents, Hopewell Valley Regional School District Superintendent Rosetta Treece confirmed Becker's status. She stated that Becker was placed on a leave of absence and that the incident occurred outside of the school district's boundaries, with no students involved.
Becker's attorney, Thomas Logan, said in a statement, "We look forward to his appearance in court where he can vindicate his name against these baseless accusations."
