Nintendo's profits experienced a substantial increase, rising to £693 million in the six months leading up to June, a 54 percent jump compared to the previous year. This surge occurred despite a 9.5 percent decline in sales, which totaled £2.4 billion for the period. The company attributed the profit boost in part to "the refund of tariffs in the US." Nintendo did not disclose the specific amount of the refund received.

The financial results were also supported by strong sales of its Switch 2 console and the performance of new game titles released in May and June, including "Yoshi and the Mysterious Book" and "Star Fox."

This refund is linked to tariffs previously imposed by the Trump administration. The U.S. Supreme Court had ruled that these levies on imports were unconstitutional because they lacked Congressional approval, leading to the repayment of approximately £74 billion in tariffs by the administration. This situation has provided a significant financial benefit to companies like Nintendo that had paid these duties.
