A police pursuit in San Francisco on Sunday evening resulted in a significant crash that sent nine individuals to the hospital. The incident occurred near South Van Ness Avenue and 14th Street when officers attempted to stop a pickup truck for erratic driving.

The pursuit began shortly after 8 p.m. when San Francisco Police Department officers observed the pickup driving erratically near Guerrero and 19th streets. According to reports, when officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the driver refused to comply and accelerated away, nearly striking a patrol vehicle.

The chase concluded when the fleeing truck broadsided another vehicle carrying four people. The impact caused the second vehicle to spin, colliding with a fire hydrant and a nearby car dealership.

San Francisco Fire Department personnel responded to the scene. Of the nine people requiring medical evaluation, two sustained critical injuries, and six others were treated for minor to moderate injuries. A ninth individual was assessed by paramedics but did not require transport to a hospital.

Officers detained all five occupants of the pickup truck, including the driver, at the scene. Their identities have not yet been released, and authorities are continuing their investigation as criminal charges are pending.
