Nigel Farage, the leader of the Reform UK party, announced Tuesday that he is resigning as a Member of Parliament for the Clacton constituency. Farage stated his intention to run in the ensuing by-election, which he described as a contest between "the people vs. the establishment."

In a press conference broadcast via the Reform UK YouTube channel, Farage declared his resignation to force a by-election, expressing his hope that it would occur swiftly. He characterized the upcoming election as an opportunity to "stick two fingers up to the entire establishment."
