Nicola Sturgeon Adopts London Canal Life

Former Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has been seen enjoying life on a £150,000 houseboat on London's Grand Union Canal, a move that has drawn attention given her past advocacy for Scottish independence. The narrowboat, owned by her friend Claire Mitchell KC, is described as having a high-standard finish with a modern living area, a bedroom with a double bed, and a sofa bed.

Sturgeon, 56, began sharing images from the boat in late May. One post, featuring her smiling on deck with a life preserver, was shared shortly after her estranged husband, Peter Murrell, was convicted of embezzling over £400,000 from the Scottish National Party. In July, she was photographed dining alfresco in London, days after Murrell was sentenced for his crimes.

More recently, Sturgeon has documented her preparation for a half marathon, engaging in gym workouts, weightlifting, and running. She shared a selfie in running gear from the narrowboat, noting her training efforts and jokingly suggesting carrying her laptop in a backpack counted as weight training. She also posted pictures of other narrowboats on the canal.

These London-based activities follow a busy year promoting her memoir, "Frankly," across the UK and Ireland. Sturgeon has also signed with London talent firm United Agents, which represents notable figures such as Olivia Colman and Eddie Redmayne.
