Nicki Minaj Flies Air Force One, Jokingly Tipped as Next Press Secretary
The rap artist shared a video aboard the presidential aircraft with White House Communications Director Steven Cheung, who humorously suggested Minaj as the next White House Press Secretary.
Rap superstar Nicki Minaj traveled aboard Air Force One on Sunday, joining President Donald Trump for his campaign rally in Michigan. During the flight, Minaj engaged in a conversation with White House Communications Director Steven Cheung, who posted a clip of their exchange on X, playfully suggesting Minaj as a candidate for the next White House Press Secretary.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I think we may have found the new White House Press Secretary! @NICKIMINAJ," Cheung captioned the video. Minaj responded to the post by sharing it with an American flag emoji and a laughing face with a bead of sweat emoji.
During their flight, Cheung also asked Minaj about her views on the economy under the Trump administration. Minaj expressed confidence in Trump's business acumen, stating, "Well, we have a president who understands economics first of all." She added, "He's worked his way out of not having a dollar left in the bank. If he can do that himself, with his own finances, surely he knows what to do with the country." She also praised his international relations, describing him as "tough internationally. He tells them what we need, not what they need."
Minaj, who was wearing a $6,000 Gucci suit for the occasion, told the Daily Mail that the upcoming election is "the most important midterm election of our lifetimes." She voiced support for Trump's congressional agenda, stating, "We need to make sure that our great President has a great team in Congress to work with during his final two years in office so he can continue to create great programs like the Trump accounts, which I am a proud supporter of."
This is not the first time Minaj has appeared alongside Trump. In January, she unexpectedly joined him on stage in Washington, D.C., during an event promoting "Trump Accounts." These accounts are intended to provide children born between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2028, with a $1,000 tax-advantaged investment from the Treasury Department, with the potential to grow with additional contributions.
Minaj has been an outspoken supporter of Trump, previously stating, "I am probably the president's No. 1 fan." She has also expressed her efforts to obtain U.S. citizenship.
Trump has been enlisting celebrity endorsements for his campaign events. In addition to Minaj, other notable figures who have recently appeared with Trump include boxers Mike Tyson, Jake Paul, Floyd Mayweather, Evander Holyfield, and country music artist Jason Aldean.
